Chapter 019 - Her plan is to expand her tools and resume her old profession. (2)

He Shichen was sitting inside of the car parked in front of the school. He watched as Chu Qianli said goodbye to Tan Muxing. He could not begin to comprehend the abrupt friendship between the two. He drummed his fingers impatiently on the car door.

Tan Muxing was from a wealthy family but he, himself, was not a very capable one. He was not particularly good looking in appearance either. His hobby was making clothing for dolls. He was the opposite of an elite. He was a pushover and was made fun of by Wang Zheng and the others all the time. Did Chu Qianli find him easily manipulatable?

From He Shichen’s perspective, there was meaning behind Chu Qianli’s every move. Perhaps she tried to fool him with her foolish appearance while she waited for that perfect moment to deliver that fatal blow to him, much like the drastic contract in her responses to the problems this afternoon.

He Shichen was a very distrustful person by nature and he did not believe that Chu Qianli had no ill will toward him. As such, it was only natural that he tried to predict her every move and had conjured up scenes after scenes of battles within wealthy families in his head.

Chu Qianli climbed inside the car and waved at Tan Muxing. After the car had started, she noticed that He Shichen had a long face. She asked dubiously, “Your wound is still hurting?”

He Shichen had not recovered from his would yet and, even though he had made an effort of covering it up today, he still received a lot of inquiries about it.

He Shichen did not feel like swapping empty words with her so he said perfunctorily, “No, it is not hurting anymore.”

Chu Qianli, “Then why the long face?”

He Shichen glared at her. He felt that she couldn’t read someone’s mood at all. He mocked her, “Every time that I see you, it puts me in a bad mood. Is that okay with you?”

He Shichen’s words were nasty. The two had always put up a friendly front in front of their parents but then there was the explosion incident on the first day that they’ve met.

Chu Qianli negotiated with him with good temperament, “Yeah, it’s alright with me but there is not much I could do about that. Perhaps you can talk Mom and Dad into letting you move out?”

She didn’t think much about his resentment toward her. She assumed that it was only natural for the male lead to resent the female supporting character. Perhaps he wanted to make sure to save himself for the female lead.

Looking at her naïve face, He Shichen, “! ! ?” You wanted to have me booted already?!

He Shichen was certain that Chu Qianli has an agenda of her own. The things that she said to him in the car. Now that they were home, she acted all innocent and pitiful in front of their parents.

Over the dining table, the He family dined together happily. He Zhenghe studied Chu Qianli being he asked cautiously, “Qianli, would you like to change your surname back?”

Chu Qianli had just returned and there were still a lot of paperwork to go through. It would be very easy to have her name changed right now.

The parents did not see the need for He Shichen to change his name but they worried that Chu Qianli might not have the sense of belonging, which was why they brought this up to her.

Yu Shen looked at Chu Qianli caringly. He Shichen was the only one fidgeting in his sea. He felt that he was an outsider.

Chu Qianli rejected the idea. “I don’t think that will be necessary. Neither He Qianli nor Yu Qianli sounds good. It doesn’t matter what my surname is; we are still a family.”

He Shichen thought to himself: what she was saying was that even though his surname was He, he was still not part of the family. Subtle.

Yu Shen asked softly, “Are you sure?”

Chu Qianli, “Yes, I am sure. There’s something that’s more important than that.”

He Zhenghe, “Oh? What is it?”

Chu Qianli blinked docilely, made a counting money gesture, and said in a pitiful way, “Mom, Dad. I poor, need moola.”

She preferred a huge amount of money over their caring about her wellbeing. Now that she had returned to a prestigious family, there were things that she would like to buy.

“… …” He Shichen only felt that his fists had tightened when he witnessed her coquettishly unique and playful way of asking for money.

He Zhenghe and Yu Shen had never seen anyone asked for pocket money this way and both of them laughed out loud. They found that very refreshing. He Shichen had always been matured beyond his age and was solemn and reliable. He would never act in such a playful way.
