Chapter 039 - He Shichen only wished the world would implode right now. (1)

Chu Qianli’s astrology reading business was going up and up.

The three of them started picking up when lunch was almost over.

Tan Muxing took down the make-shift curtains and casually placed it on the table as he started organizing the feedbacks that they had received that day. The dark-purple curtain was made from the table cloth that came with a set of tarot cards that Chu Qianli had purchased. It had now resumed its original purpose. Chu Qianli and Qiu Qingkong organized their divination tools over the table cloth.

Qiu Qingkong said in a complacent manner, “More and more people are coming the last couple of days. I think we will have people coming different grades shortly!”

Chu Qianli was impressed. “You are so good at advertising.”

Back in the village, Chu Qianli had to rely on her grandfather’s reputation when she first started out. Then there were a lot who questioned her ability because of her age.

Qiu Qingkong, on the other hand, carved out a new path. She first packaged Chu Qianli as a reclusive grandmaster then blocked out many skeptical customers with high prices. Their customer based had been filtered from the very beginning and that saved them a lot of hassles.

Qiu Qingkong chatted about astrology with Chu Qianli for a while before she returned to her seat to get ready for their afternoon classes.

Tan Muxing had remained silence the entire time but, after seeing that Qiu Qingkong was gone, he finally mentioned his worries. “But when there are more and more people coming, you might get into trouble as well."

Chu Qianli looked at him curiously, “What sort of troubles?”

Tan Muxing, “We are doing this at school. It is fine if we limit it only to our grade. The teachers might have a conversation with you when the entire school knows about it.”

Tan Muxing and Qiu Qingkong were, after all, just helping her out. If the teachers wanted to get down to the bottom of it all, they would be going for Chu Qianli. He felt that it was somewhat risky and would reflect poorly on his deskmate.

“Hmm, you are right. Let’s talk to Qiu Qingkong about it later.” Chu Qianli thought about it some and agreed with him. “There were quite a bit of people gathering around this afternoon.”

Chu Qianli had underestimated Qiu Qingkong’s ability to bring in business. She did not have this much customers back in the village.

Inside their neighboring classroom, Qi Yan was sitting in front of her desk. After she listened to the outcome of the divination, she asked, full of interest, “So the transfer student’s ability was for real?”

The fan girl nodded. “Yes, and I feel that she is poise and looks like an oracle……”* (xian feng dao gu)

Chu Qianli was always serious when she performed readings, very different from her usual goofy and joking style. That, on top of Qiu Qingkong’s deliberate creation and management of her image, it was only normal that others impression of her was vastly different than how she really was.

There was no way for those from another class to know how she slept in class and madly copied homework assignments. Nor would they had any knowledge of her crazy speech during her self-introduction.

Distance creates beauty and adds on filters. In Qi Yan’s mind, Chu Qianli was exactly the same as the pretty genius boy who resided in Ganshan and would not step foot on this earthly world. Now that Chu Qianli was already in this world, that was no way she would let her go.

Qi Yan said mildly, “That was very helpful. Learning I Ching is difficult. It is much faster to just hire someone.”

She looked over at the celebrity fangirl and asked, “Can I ask you for one more favor? I will pay for this one as well.”

In between classes, Chu Qianli looked at the familiar face and was shocked by the crazy acts of the city-dweller. “Are you really that rich?”

Translator's notes:

A picture says a thousand words. The term that the girl used to describe our MC was Xian feng dao gu. I don’t know how to translate it in English so basically she “looks the role of an [Asian] oracle.” This is what are traditionally think of as “xian feng dao gu”.
