Chapter 474 - Zhou Yan returned happily to the base. (3)

Yan Yongan came from a family lineage of fortunetellers. He was more a believer in paranormal phenomenon than a normal person, which was why he believed in Tong Zhenzhen’s words in the first place.

Yan Yongan blew out a mouthful of smoke. “Xiang Peng was already made. You should stay away from Tong Xuelu for the time being and don’t make any rash move. We don’t want to alarm her.”

Tong Zhenzhen looked mesmerized when she watched him puff the cigarette. “Yes, I will listen to anything that you say. That being said, when are we getting married?”

Yan Yongan turned and pinched her chin. “Why are you so eager about it?”

Tong Zhenzhen blushed. “I want to become your woman soon and then help you go up in life!”

She would only trust to tell him everything that she knew after they were married, had kids, and truly tied together. Otherwise, she worried that he would give her the boot any time that he wanted.

Yan Yongan blew a puff of smoke at her face and chuckled softly. “I’ve already brought up divorce to my wife. We will get married as soon as thing are settled on that end.”

The smoke made Tong Zhenzhen squint. “Will she agree to a divorce?”

Yan Yongan let go of her chin and his look turned cold again. “Don’t you worry about that with your pretty little face. I am telling you that we will get married.”

He has a strong aura and exuberated a form of suffocating pressure to the others whenever he was quiet and had a cold look.

Tong Zhenzhen dared not make any rash moves in front of him. “Oh right, hadn’t I asked you a while back to get Tong Xuelu’s boyfriend’s mother and her family back to Capital City? Why aren’t they here yet?”

Yan Yongan’s frown deepened some. “I did ask to have them transfer back but someone interfered with that. They wouldn’t be getting back any time soon.”

In the end, he just wasn’t powerful enough. Why else would they go back on what they had promised him?

Tong Zhenzhen, too, frowned. “Why are there so much obstacles on whatever we tried to do? Do you think Tong Xuelu could be the one behind them?”

She had wanted Yan Yongan to get Wen Rugui’s mother’s family back to Capital City. Wen Rugui’s mother would make a good tool. She was the one who drove him to his end in her previous life.

She trusted that Tong Xuelu would suffer greatly if Wen Rugui died. That ought to make her happy.

She hadn’t expected that someone would foil her plans. That made her unhappy.

Yan Yongan, “It is possible. We have no idea what that woman’s background is like. There are a lot of powerful people around her. That is why we needed to lay low for the time being.”

“All you need to do is to help me move up in life. Then you will be able to do to her whatever pleases you.”

The thought of being able to have Tong Xuelu under her feet in the future finally put a smile on Tong Zhenzhen. “Alright, I’ll listen to you. I won’t be going near her.”

Yan Yongan nodded in satisfaction.

Zhou Yan returned to the base with a big smile on him.

When the others saw how happy he was, they couldn’t help but asked, “Why do you look so happy, Researcher Zhou? You have any good news to share?”

Zhou Yan’s mouth cracked open. “You guessed it. My girlfriend and I are engaged, and we’ve set our date in June!”

Everybody congratulated him when they heard that. Zhou Yan was smiling from ear to ear.

After work, he couldn’t wait to tell Wen Rugui and Huang Qimin about his engagement.

Huang Qimin, “Well congratulations, bro. I told you my method would work!”

Wen Rugui looked down at the table and said nothing.

Zhou Yan, his teeth showing, said, “Now Rugui is the only one still not engaged among us. Rugui, you better put more effort into this!”

Wen Rugui acknowledged with a nonchalant look.

Huang Qimin, “Are you still mulling over how to propose to your girlfriend? If you ask me, if she didn’t think 2 jin of pork was romantic, then go for 4 jin. If not, then go up to 10 jin. That would be romantic enough, right?”

Wen Rugui, “……”

Since when was pork pegged to romantic?

Zhou Yan, “Welp, Qimin’s girlfriend and my girlfriend are down to earth. All they need is two jinof pork. Your situation is tougher, Rugui.”

Wen Rugui, who had said nothing up until this point, finally said, “That’s because my girlfriend is different from others. She is special. That’s why I can’t do it with just 2 jinof pork.”

Huang Qimin and Zhou Yan felt like they had been shoved a mouthful of dogfood and they felt sick to their stomachs.

It almost sounded like their wife/girlfriend were worthless.

Then again, in looking back, that did seem kind of worthless, only proposing with two jinof pork.

Well, they better made sure that their wife/girlfriend never meet up with Wen Rugui’s girlfriend in the future. They wouldn’t want to stir anything up with comparison.
