Finding My Father - CH 142
Gu Yaobai and Gu XueEr stayed at the Gu’s until after dinner.
Gu Xi was in an alerted state the entire time.
In the Gu’s family room, Gu Xi held tightly onto a corner of Gu Shao’s cloth subconsciously all the way until Gu Yaobai and Gu XueEr had taken off. She was finally able to let out a sigh of relief and her body relaxed after their car had left the Gu’s garden and was completely out of sight.
All the way until she noticed that Gu Shao, who had been by her side the entire time, had disappeared without her knowing.
Gu Xi looked around anxiously and finally asked those around her when she didn’t see Gu Shao, “Where’s Gu, my dad?”

Gu Qinghua was mid-level in the troop back then and, because of his outstanding performance and multiple achievements, he shined like a star and, with his ability, his potential was limitless.
The higher-up did not like how fast Gu Qinghua was rising and, feeling that his future standing and power were threatened, came up with this plan to destroy Gu Qinghua.
He had not expected that Gu Qinghua would have collected the evidences and cleared his own name in such a short amount of time.

Truth was, Yang Wanni didn’t die from illness either. She was murdered.

“What’s the matter?” The few next to Gu Xi looked over at her anxiously.
“Oh, nothing. It just slipped out of my hand.” Gu Xi who quickly hide the shock in her eyes and smiled embarrassingly.
When all was settled down, Gu Xi tugged at Gu Chenyi’s shirt from under the table.
“What would you like to eat? I’ll get it for you.”
“No.” Gu Xi shook her head and gestured for Gu Chenyi to get closer to her. She then whispered to him at a volume that only the two of them could hear. “What did Grandpa call Third Uncle earlier?”

Looking at the four members from the head-lowering clan focusing on nobody knew what from the host’s seat, Old Mr. Gu dropped his face, put on a solemn look, cleared his throat and said, “It’s lunch time! Are you guys going to look up from your phone and eat?”
Hearing Old Mr. Gu’s words, Gu Xi and the others put away their phones at the same time and all of them give Old Mr. Gu the same “docile” look.
Looking at his own docile grandsons and granddaughter, Old Mr. Gu felt a pang of happiness and could no longer maintain his strict face.
“Alright, alright. Let’s all start eating.”
Everybody started to eat with Old Mr. Gu’s words.
Gu Xi, as usual, ate quietly.

Gu XueEr didn’t let it get awkward for herself. She looked over at Gu Xi and asked curiously, “Did you just transfer to HSAU, Xixi?”
“Yes, I did.” Gu Xi nodded.
Gu XueEr smiled and said, “No wonder I had seen you around school before.”
Having said that, Gu XueEr asked caringly again, “How are you adapting to the new school?”
“So far so good,” said Gu Xi.
“I’m glad to hear that.” Gu XueEr then said affectionately, “I am in Class 6 of the junior grade. You are welcome to come to me if you need any help.”
As soon as Gu XueEr had finished saying that and Gu Xi was about to thank you politely, she heard Gu Chenyi grumbling softly, “We won’t need you for that.”

Aunty Mei came over at this point as well.
She had been busy in the kitchen and, when she was all done, she returned to her room and changed out of her clothes that smelled like grease.
Seeing Gu Yaobai, Aunty Mei, taken aback a little, said, “Third Young Master has joined us today.”
Grumbling, Aunty Mei noticed the baffled look on Gu Xi. She thought perhaps Old Mr. Gu had forgotten to introduce them. Walking over, she introduced the two of them, “This is the third brother of the Gu family. You should refer to him as ‘Third Uncle’. The one next to him is his daughter. She’s one year older than you.”

“Do we have guests over today, Grandpa?” Suppressing her slight displeasure, Gu XueEr blinked and asked Old Mr. Gu with the sincerest look.
“Not guests,” said Old Mr. Gu frankly. “This is your Second Uncle’s daughter.
“She had been living with her mother but she is back with us now,” said Old Mr. Gu. He had provided the reason why Gu Xi was here now but also skipped over Gu Xi’s situation at the Lin’s for what had happened back in the days.
That was Old Mr. Gu’s way of protecting Gu Xi.
Gu XueEr was surprised when she heard Old Mr. Gu’s explanation. Her second uncle had been singled all these years. Nobody ever heard about him being married or even in a relationship. Where did this child come from?

At the Gu’s house, with the exception that Old Mr. Gu’s room was on the second floor, everybody else’s room was on the third floor.
After making a right turn to the second floor, there were two more hallways.
Gu Yanlin, Gu Yanxiao, and Gu Chenyi’s rooms were on the left and Gu Xi’s on the right.
To quote Old Mr. Gu’s words, the girl and the boys needed to be raised separately.
As such, the empty rooms next to Gu Xi’s were converted by Old Mr. Gu into piano room, study, art studio, and a large walk-in closet.
“This is your room,” said Gu Yanxiao as he gestured Gu Xi to open up the room door.

Gu Yanlin and Gu Yanxiao were already waiting excitedly.
“These two are from your big uncle’s family.” Old Mr. Gu introduced Gu Yanlin and Gu Yanxiao to Gu Xi.
Gu Xi looked at Gu Yanlin. He was 17 years old right now and was a cold and handsome man through and through. Even better if he wasn’t smiling so brightly and carrying a pink box in his hand right now.
Gu Yanlin handed the pink box over to Gu Xi the next second. “Here’s a gift for you. See if you like it.”
It didn’t matter if she didn’t like it. He had two big suitcases still inside the storage. All of them were gifts for Xixi.
