Fooled by the author; or was it just me?
So Fuyu had always been telling me that dominating CEO (dCEO) novels are very cliche but, of course, I refused to listen to her and keep on binge reading them. So I was reading yet another MC “ran off” with (CEO’s) bun novel. The novel is solidly average at best, if not a bit worse than that.
Why did I keep reading it to the end, you may ask. Because in the author’s rambling, it says that the bun’s father was ML’s father. I was like, “Whoa, that’s a twist alright.” Anyway you look at it, the book suggested that ML was the father and I was very curious how the twist was going to come about… Was the MC an involuntary participant in this? Who was the villain in the story, ML or ML’s father? When was this ML’s father even going to show up in the story? How was the MC going to end up with ML without the story getting just bizarre?
Welp, I finally finished the story and, guess what? ML was the father. Everything was super predictable. MC ended up with ML, blah blah blah. THEN, I went back to re-read the author’s blurb. I mean, why would the author lie about this anyway. As it turned out, author said the bun’s father was “Lao Mu’s”. “Lao” = old. Author was using that as a term of endearment for ML and I totally thought “Lao Mu” referred ML’s father. TT . TT
