Chapter 462 - "What did you say her name is again?" (4)

After walking inside of the house, Tong Xuelu served up tea for the two and also brought out some candies for them.

Fang Jingyuan’s eyes lit up when she saw the red date cakes. “How are you so amazing, Xuelu? You cook well and you are also good at making snacks and desserts. How I wish I can just stay here with you?”

Tong Xuelu smiled. “If you are staying here, I’m afraid your parents will be heading this way in no time.”

As she spoke, Tong Xuelu glanced over at Xiang Peng.

He was smiling but he was not looking at Fang Jingyuan.

Fang Jingyuan, however, would glance over at him from time to time, looking shy.

Judging from the way the two look, it would appear that Fang Jingyuan was the only one in this hot and heavy. Xiang Peng didn’t look like he quite feel the same way about Fang Jingyuan.

That being said, some people are more reserved when it comes to their emotions, or they just needed time to warm up. As such, she didn’t think much of it.

Tong Xuelu asked, “How’s working at the Department of Education, Comrade Xiang?”

Xiang Peng smiled and nodded. “Quite busy, if I may say. I’m a secretary. I follow my boss around and might not even get to rest even when my boss is resting.”

Fang Jingyuan grumbled when she heard that. “He is definitely busier than his boss. I’ve only seen him all 4 times since we’ve met a month ago. That’s including today. For sure he would be busy today if it wasn’t my birthday!”

Xiang Peng apologized. “It’s my fault. I will squeeze out more time in the future.”

Fang Jingyuan blushed and harrumphed. “You better.”

Tong Xuelu looked at how shy Fang Jingyuan looked and knew that she was serious this time.

The few chatted for a little while and Tong Xuelu went to cook in the kitchen.

Fang Jingyuan stood up and followed Tong Xuelu, leaving Xiang Peng in the living room by himself.

Tong Xuelu planned on making big pan chicken and birthday noodles for Fang Jingyuan. In addition, there will be a meat stir-fry and eggs and tomatoes. Another chiffon cake after dinner should be sufficient.

Fang Jingyuan was able to drool after hearing all these names. “You are so nice to me, Xuelu!”

Recalling how the two of them used to fight daily, she felt that she had been so blind for not seeing what a nice person that Tong Xuelu was. That had caused her to miss out on so much tasty food.

Tong Xuelu skillfully chopped up all the chicken, rinsed them, and blanched them.

She then peeled and chopped up the potatoes, green and red peppers, and onions. She missed the ginger, garlic, and green onions and sliced the dried red peppers in preparation.

Fang Jingyuan worked as her assistant by her side. “Xuelu, what do you think of my boyfriend?’

Tong Xuelu poured the sauce inside the pan and started stirring. “He’s alright. You won’t be getting married any time soon, will you?”

Fang Jingyuan’s cheeks blushed. “He’s not young anymore. His family had been rushing him and he also said he wanted to get married sooner rather than later. He wanted to come to my place and proposed to my family next month!”

Tong Xuelu almost choked on her own saliva. “That soon? You sure you are ready to spend the rest of your life with him?”

Fang Jingyuan nodded shyly. “He’s very good looking. I feel that his face is very appetizing.”

Tong Xuelu, “……”

She was even more shallow than her.

“I feel that is too rushed. You’ve only met 4 times and barely know each other. I think you should give it some more time.”

The kitchen was now aromatic from the ingredients.

Tong Xuelu added the bean paste and stir fried them until red oil could be seen. She then placed the chicken inside the work for stir frying. She added rock sugar and soy for the coloring and finally added in a big bowl of water to stew it for 10 or so minutes.

Fang Jingyuan said, “I know him well. He’s very sweet. He knew that I like good food and would bring them every time. He can tolerate my personality and I feel that the two of us are good match.”

Tong Xuelu rolled her eyes.

What else could she say after that?
