Chapter 502 - She had underestimated Yan Yongan. (3)

Tong Xuelu had figured that matters were serious. But what she had learned still made her speechless.

Neither one of them talked and the atmosphere in the living room was heavy.

After a little while, Tong Xuelu finally broke the silence and said, “What’s your plan now, Comrade Su?”

A fire was burning under Su Yueshen’s eyes. “We are partially responsible for what had happened to my family. But it would never have come to this if someone hadn’t been pushing things along!

“Tong Zhenzhen was the one who turned Xiao Jiu’s mother in. My guess is that Yan Yongan was the one who told her to do so!”

He had already heard that Yan Yongan would very likely succeed his position.

Tong Xuelu went silent for a little bit and said, “If you wanted to look into Yan Yongan, its best you start from looking into the death of his wife.”

Su Yueshen looked up. “Whatever do you mean by that, Comrade Tong?”

Tong Xuelu said, “I suspect that he was the cause of his wife’s death.”

Su Yueshen was stunned by that and wasn’t able to talk for a long time.

“I have no proof. But, just you wait, I ventured that he will be marrying Tong Zhenzhen shortly.”

Su Yueshen quickly recollected himself. “Are you saying that Su Yueshen killed his own wife so he can marry Tong Zhenzhen?”

Tong Xuelu nodded.

Su Yueshen’s brows furrowed. “What I don’t understand is why. Why would Yan Yongan want to do that? Is he that in love with that Tong Zhenzhen?”

Yan Yongan did not strike him as the kind of person who’d put romance over work.

Tong Xuelu shook her head. “I don’t have an answer for that. I just feel that it was a lot of coincidence. Yan Yongan so happened to be the witness of Tong Zhenzhen’s good deed and Tong Zhenzhen happened to be working at the same department as Gu Yilan.

“There are no such thing as coincidence. They were all orchestrated purposefully.”

Of course she knew exactly why. She just couldn’t share that.

Su Yueshen toyed with her words. After a long while, he finally said, “Thank you, Comrade Tong. I will keep that in mind. But you don’t want to share that with another soul.”

Tong Xuelu nodded, “I won’t.”

She had underestimated Yan Yongan in the past. Now that Yan Yongan had successfully brought down Su Yueshen, he would certainly be coming for her next.

She needed to squash him before he had a chance to act against her.

That fact that she had told Su Yueshen what she had told him was a sign that she wanted to work with him.

Su Yueshen took off shortly after that and she hadn’t heard from him again for a long while.

Tong Xuelu did not mention about the Su family nor that fact that she was brought in to assist in the investigation to Wen Rugui.

Old Mr. Wen, however, found out about it anyway.

Old Mr. Wen was so angry that his beard was shaking. “Why didn’t you tell me about something so important?”

Tong Xuelu quickly tried to comfort him, “Grandpa Wen, it wasn’t that I didn’t want to tell you. But I was instructed by the Security Bureau to not say a word about it to anyone. Besides, they just asked me a few questions and nothing else.”

Old Mr. Wen was still very angry. “Xuelu, you are engaged to Rugui. We are a family. How would we feel if something happens to you?”

Tong Xuelu presented the snacks that she had brought with him. “I’m sorry, Grandpa Wen. I will for sure tell you no matter what happens in the future. But let’s keep this one from Rugui.”

Old Mr. Wen took a look at the snacks that she had brought with her and harrumphed. “Okay, but only this once. But these snacks alone will not make me forgive you!”

Tong Xuelu didn’t know how to feel about Old Mr. Wen’s childishness.

That day, she made a whole tableful of yummy food for Old Mr. Wen and that made him very happy.

Tong Xuelu had been laying low recently waiting for an opportunity to present itself.

And that happened shortly.
