The butler informed Ning Zhi that Lu Jue was outside their front door.

Ning Zhi wasn’t sure what to make of it. She had just sent him away and he was back already?

The mid summer weather was getting hotter and hotter.

Ning Zhi did not like to be under the burning sun, so she walked outside with an umbrella.

The guard opened the big metal gate and Ning Zhi immediately spotted Lu Jue squatting there outside of her house. He was squatting there quietly with his arms around his knees and his head lowered.

Next to him was a red backpack that was the same color as the clothes that he had on.

Ning Zhi stood in front of him and asked, “Didn’t I just tell you to go home and get some rest? Why are you back already?”

The girl had on a pair of pinks shoes with ribbon. Lu Jue saw her alabaster feet right away and he looked up. He looked at Ning Zhi with his pitch-black eyes. “Zhizhi.”

“Didn’t I tell you to only return after you had recovered? You had failed to do that.” Ning Zhi held the umbrella over Lu Jue’s head. She didn’t want him to have a heat stroke again.

His arms wrapped around his legs, Lu Jue blinked and looked at Ning Zhi pitifully. “I was kicked out by my family.”

Ning Zhi looked shocked.

Lu Jue pinched his lips shut some. There was a hint of red at the corners of his eyes. His beautiful cherry-blossom eyes were filled with aggrievance and pitifulness. He looked like a little pity who had been kicked out by his family. “Zhizhi, my grandpa kicked me out. He said I am not allowed to go home anymore.”

He had on red clothes and his handsome face looked pale under the sun. His thin lips were dry and also looked pale. He said in his deep and hoarse voice, “Zhizhi, don’t send me away.”

His tall and skinny body rolled into a ball. He was little a little abandoned puppy. He looked at Ning Zhi while trembling pitifully, longing for a home.

Ning Zhi went silent for a few seconds and said, “Follow me inside first.”

Lu Jue’s eyes lit up. He stood up abruptly and it was only after two more seconds had passed before he remembered his backpack that was still lying on the ground. He picked up his backpack and carried it in his arms. He looked at Ning Zhi with his eyes sparkling. “Zhizhi take me in.”

Ning Zhi led the way and Lu Jue followed behind her carrying his red backpack. His lips curved upward some and his little shallow dimple could be seen. Walking behind Ning Zhi, he refused to look away from her.

He would be living with her from now on.

After they had returned to the living room, the servant served them iced fruit juice. Ning Zhi took a few sips right away.

She had them brought Lu Jue warm water instead. He was still sick and should not have iced beverages.

“Why did your family kick you out all of a sudden?” asked Ning Zhi.

Lu Jue was sitting next to Ning Zhi with his red backpack to one side of him. He looked a lot like a little pity running away from home with nowhere to go. Hearing Ning Zhi’s words, he said to her, “Grandpa was mad at me and told me to leave.”

He wasn’t lying. His Grandpa did tell him to leave.

“Did you make him mad?” Ning Zhi was curious what Lu Jue had done to the point that he was kicked out.

Lu Jue had no idea why his grandpa was upset but he nodded. “Can’t go home.”

Lu Jue carried out Old Mr. Lu words at the heat of the moment and he intended to follow them through all the way.

The bangs over his forehead was slightly messy. A strand of it was sticking straight up and gave him a dazed look. Ning Zhi controlled her urge to straight out his hair for him. “Stay here for the next few days and go home when your grandpa is no longer mad at you.”

Lu Jue gave Ning Zhi a quick look. “I don’t want to go back there.”

He could live with Zhizhi forever.
